If you are a golfer Karlstejn offers some supreme golfing. Located only 4 miles from our cottages you find the Karlstejn Golf course that is generally recognized as one of the best courses in the Czech Republic. The wonderfull 18 hole golf court offer a supreme view over the Karlstein Castle amidst the beautiful scenery of the Karlstein valley.

 

Koneprusy limestone caves www.gweb.cz/jeskyne/  2 miles
The Konsprusy limestone caves are the largest cave system to be found in the Czech Republic. The caves were opened to the public in 1959. The thur through these impressive limestone caves, reveals colourful formations, and a 15th century underground forge used to make counterfeit coins. The Konsprusy rosettes, composed of silicious stalactites, are the principal couriosity of this formation. The caves evolved in the tertiary era 20 mill. years ago and have been subject to continuous changes up till our time.

 

The Karlstejn - Beroun hiking path
The 10 mile long hiking path between Karlstejn and the city of Beroun is the first officially recognized hiking path in Bohemia. The path passes through a beautiful scenery of hills, forrests and water falls. Close to Karlstejn you will path through the distinctive landscapes of Velka and Mala America (small and large Amerika) as well as Mexico - areas that with their almost vertical mountain sides almost look like the Grand Canyon in the USA.

The Nizbor Chrystal Glass Plant www.ruckl.cz  12 miles
The Czech Republic is world famous for its production of crystal glass. One of the many crystal glass plants are located close to our cottages. The plant was founded in 1846 and ranks among the oldest of the country. The plant offer guided tours through the production facilities watching the glass blowers and the cutting halls where complex patterns are carved into the glasses and vases . After the guided tour we recommend a stop at the factory outlet where you can buy the local products at favourable prices.

The mining museum in pribam www.muzeum-pribram.cz  25 miles
In thw Pribram mines silver and lead has been extracted since the 15th century. The ½ mile deep Vojtechshaft was in 1875 the deepest shaft in the world. In the mining museum you will find the original dressing and eating rooms for the miners. The museum shows the mining and the shaft along with a vast mineralogical collection. You will also get acquainted with a typical dwelling of a miners family. Man kører dertil med tog The city has a bob sledge track which is great fun for kids and adults alike. Museet for political prisoners www.pribram-city.cz  25 miles
The muzeum with the Czech name „Muzeum tretiho odboje" is absolutely worth the trip. Not too many foureign tourists are familiar with the gruesome sides of the communim. In the 1950´s political prisoners were used as slave laborers in the uranium mines in Pribam, while accommodated under concentration camp like conditions.
